SAPBW and Dimensional Modeling

I’ve been doing BI in SQL Server for about 5 years having started out reading Kimball Methodology. Our small company was bought by a larger company that is an SAP shop. What is the prevailing thought on dimensional modeling in SAPBW? Will I need to fight to keep SQL Server alive to maintain a dimensional modeling approach? What might an SAP vendor advocate?
