Seeking Senior BI Developer for global capital markets firm in downtown Boston

The Business Systems/Business Intelligence Developer reports to the Applications Development Manager and works within a Global IT team to deliver new custom applications, to maintain and support existing applications and to integrate packaged applications. There is a heavy focus on data-driven applications, ETL processing and reporting.

Application Development and Server Platforms and Tools:

Required:

Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008
•SSIS
•SSRS
•SSAS

Some experience a plus:

•Visual Studio .NET IDE and .NET Languages (primarily C# and ASP.NET)
•SharePoint 2007
•IIS and ASP.NET
•Microsoft Office and VBA

Skills and Qualifications:

•5 years of application development experience in relevant languages and platforms
•Experience applying proven application design concepts and the creativity to expand upon these concepts to improve extensibility, performance and maintainability
Extensive experience creating ETL processes
•Solid understand of database design and optimization for both transactional applications and reporting
•Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, including design and lifecycle
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to work well within a team environment and independently
•Ability and willingness to participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering and QA
•Financial Services experience is a plus

Responsibilities:

•Improve the quality of business applications and support existing systems
•Test and validate new software features and functionality prior to implementation
•Document application specifications as required
•Apply new technologies as they emerge
•Ensure the integrity of the data in application and reporting databases
•Work with the IT team and various business lines to identify areas for strategic and operational improvement
•Design, maintain and optimize applications in the Windows Server environment
•Design, maintain and optimize databases in the SQL Server environment
•Provide after hours business system support as needed
•Contribute to the delivery of on-time, on-budget projects
•Communicate regularly with clients and project sponsors
•Address client satisfaction issues in a direct and timely manner
•Ensure established processes are documented and followed
