Data Modeler EDW - responsibilities

Post  gegeorge on Thu Aug 05, 2010 10:28 pm

Hi all,

I need to describe the core responsibilities of a data modeler for an EDW in the format of responsible for developing the logical and physical design for ...

Standard stuff regarding experience with 3NF, Star / Snow flake, etc. would apply, though most important is the application of the experience and expected value to the development / operations of the EDW and BI interface.

Checking in with forum members to see if anyone has a good synopsis of the role / responsibility of a Sr. DM for an EDW.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

G.

The role of Data Modeler covers all the standard stuff you refered to. Someone who is a data modeler but also knows how all the pieces fit togther (Source Sytems, ETL, BI Layer, etc) as well as its value to the business is a DW Architect.

Go to dice.com (or any other job portal) and search for data model. You'll find lots of good job descriptions.
