At most organizations Data Warehousing does not get a seat on table with CXO. It is an essential part of technology services still budget, attention and focus to do it right is generally not on priority list.

Business Intelligence and Analytics for a several companies is a business function rather than a technology service. Companies who are able to understand the difference do begin to build their competency around it. Outsourcing such service may not always be a smart idea. Companies do need to manage their core data on their own with in-house expertise and knowledge about data, its content and its hidden powers.
