Launching amd Managing the Project

I'm a little confuse regarding the following terms and their meaning and timing on the life cycle -
success criteria, business justification,financial Returns and benefit, business requirements.
what should i define first in the life cycle, what are the differences?
in general i would like to understand better the pipeline for the initiation step.

Think you can refer to the book The Data Warehouse Lifecycle Toolkit (Paperback) by Ralph Kimball, Margy Ross for more details on the DW life cycle.
