I'm looking at page 133 in the 2nd Edition Guide to Dimensional regarding shrunken rollup conformed dimensions with attribute subset. Using the product -> brand example, could the brand dimension have more attributes about a brand than those in the product dimension as long as the additional attributes don't change the grain of the brand dimension. So for example, could the Product Dimension still have the Brand Description, Subcategory Description, Category Description, and Department Description from the rolled up Brand Dimension but not have Brand Logo, Category Owner (as example additional fields in the Brand Dimension)? The two additional fields don't change the grain of the brand dimension, they just add additional details that are needed when joining brand to a fact table but are not needed when joining product to a fact table. Make sense? So in essence can a rollup conformed dimension be a subset of another dimension plus some extra fields?
