Loading Facts outside the ETL tool?
Hello all,
I have 4 dimensions: date, person, item, and warehouse. I'm loading an accumulated snapshot fact table, but unsure on how to proceed.
The sources and dimensions are already in the same Oracle environment. Can I populate the facts using SQL or should I be going through the ETL process (in my case Informatica)? I'm thinking I can just do join from source to the date dimension within Oracle to get the dim_date_keys and any necessary facts loaded as opposed to going through the ETL process. Is there a right or efficient way?
- Thanks

Re: Loading Facts outside the ETL tool?
Technically you can do anything you want. From a management and maintenance standpoint it becomes problematic if you use different methods to load different tables.
