Data modeling best practices for Vectorwise database

Post  rathjeevesh on Sun Feb 17, 2013 1:48 pm

We will be using Vectorwise database for our reporting needs. Fastest speed for data retrieval columnar storage of data in database are some of the promises that Vectorwise comes with. Could you please provide some data modeling bast practices for this kind of a database. Customer feels that there is no need of data modeling and we can dump data as per the reporting requirements.

Don't you love salespeople? Data models have nothing to do with databases per se. They have everything to do with organizing the data so it is useful and supportive of current and future need. A dimensional model should work fine.
