Mixing platforms for presentation layer
I have a client who has BO, MicroStrategy and SAS, and they want to use MS for dashboard, and BO for user reporting. Apart from training and usability issues related to be being on different products, I'm concerned about working from the dashboard (MS or SAS) and drilling into data, and ensuring the detailed reporting is queried the same way as the dashboard summary... An exec looks at the dashboard on MS, and has questions, and then a user goes to BO to pull up a report that provides the answers. How do you keep the two platforms synchronized at the query level (they are sitting across the same warehouse).

I think you've answered your question already -- "they are sitting across the same warehouse". As long as Business Objects, MicroStrategy, and SAS are pointing at the same tables, you've done about all you can do. You'll still have to deal with human error -- the BO user may write the wrong query to answer a MS question, but I don't know what you do about that.
