The above article is a very interesting read. I am wondering what would be the best practices on detaching business rules from ETL and tools like BO Universe. If anyone has done anything around this. Please, share your experience.

It would be tough to argue that, on a conceptual level, a central place to manage and implement rules would be great.

But, the article also goes to great length to describe the complexity of the problem. It also ignores the operational systems, which avoids turning an extremely complex problem into an incredibly complex problem.

Of course, I am still waiting for the mythical common metadata repository, which is probably orders of magnitude less complex to do. Also, it seems to me, such a common repository would be a prerequisite to tackling the business rules issue.
