Flexiblity To Add Attributes To A Dimension And Not Process The Whole Cube/s
Hello,
We are in the process of designing a DW for Games and have run into a business problem : Business users want to add attributes to a dimension and decide its level in the hierarchy on the fly. The new attributes should be availabe in reports (including drill downs) immediately.
Example: A game has attributes like type (video/non-video), manufacturer, year of purchase etc... 6 weeks/months from today management might want to add attributes like time taken to play a game and number of player posistions..
How do we model our game dimension such that we dont end up reprocessing the entire cube whenever these changes occur.
Thanks in advance.
Amit
