ETL and Reporting Tool

I’m finding myself in a situation where my knowledge of the organization’s BI/reporting tools are highly restricted. So, I’m just taking survey, how knowledgeable of an organization’s BI and reporting tools should the tools’ EDW ETL developer be?

An ETL developer doesn't need to know anything about reporting tools, unless they plan to change jobs. The DW modeler/architect does.

I believe it would be worthwhile to get familiar with BI and Reporting tools. As an ETL developer I found out this approach quite useful. It is correct that we work in the kitchen, but we should know how user use the data we cook in the dinning room:)
That would give us more insight into what we do.
